Below is a list of some suggested reading:

Sugar Busters: My current favorite. Same as Mastering the Zone and Protein Power but more readable. This is a 40/30/30 diet, although he doesn't say so directly. You must MOVE your blood everyday to be successful! We have full programs based on this diet. Join in AFTER you're familiar with one of the books.

After reading Sugar Busters call our office to learn about special recipes and a "Zone Bar" system. My wife, Roz, likes to show patients what she's learned and will be happy to meet with you.

The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet: (Racheal and Richard Heller) Oprah's favorite that says the same thing as Sugar Busters. Try to avoid Atkin's book which is effective but dangerously ignores the importance of high quality proteins (see "platelets")

The Protein Power Diet: (in paperback) Nearly as good as The Zone

The G-Index Diet: (Richard Podell) Same idea as The Zone but with more emphasis on the Glycemic Index list and less on weighing and measuring. Best to read both. (Warner Books)

Mastering The Zone: (Barry Sears, Ph.D.) Mastering the Zone is the proven way to prevent diabetes.

Stopping the Clock: (Drs. Klatz and Goldman) Everything you need to know about making the "golden" years really golden!

Love, Medicine, and Miracles: (Bernie Siegel, MD) Learning about exceptional cancer patients can make you an "exceptional" person.

The Arthritis Cure: Note: Glucosamine can cause swelling (edema) unless taken in a special form. Check out roz2000.com to find out how to get this product.

Stretching: (Bob Anderson) Guess what this one's about!

New Passages:Mapping Your Life Across Time: (Gail Sheehy) How to be happier and more productive as we live longer. Kenneth Cooper's It's Better to Believe is also great.

Reversing Human Aging: (Michael Fossel, PhD, M.D.) More scientific and scholarly but uttterly amazing! What if we all live to be 150 years old?

Strong Women Stay Young: (Miriam Nelson, Ph.D. and Sarah Werniak, Ph.D) A great book for all women, especially those post-menopause.

www.mendosa.com/gilists.htm: This will give you the current Glycemic Index
